• The overall objective of the JBC is to contribute to the creation of “sustainable livelihoods” defined as quality work opportunities, whether in waged employment or self-employment, or by enhancing the skill s of existing workforce. The desired work opportunities are characterized by: (i) gainfulness, such that the job provides adequate remuneration to afford youth a standard of living beyond mere sustenance; (ii) appropriateness, wherein youth find satisfaction in the working conditions and kind of work they undertake; and (iii) permanence, offering youth a high likelihood of job security and career progression on the long run. To that end, the JBC will endeavor to tackle the triple deficit of lack of skill, lack of motivation, and lack of opportunity commonly experienced by underprivileged youth.
